One of our key research threads is focused on developing a platform for providing software engineering tools as service fro supporting Globally Distributed Software Development Teams. This work as been motivated by the increasing popularity of exploiting Cloud computing for enabling organizations to build scalable software systems and to meet challenges of rapid demand of computing and storage resources. Our research has made significant progress on this front by designing and prototyping a reference architecture for a cloud-based platform for providing software engineering tools as services. Our prototype has been implemented using Amazon as underlying IaaS Cloud and have demonstrated its functionality with the help of simple client application that act as a bridge between software development tools and middleware platform.
