I’m very pleased to say that long time architect turned academic Dr. Ulrik Eklund will be speaking on the “Role of Architect” as a guest lecture in my course on software architecture on the evening of October 21, 2013 at the IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Ulrik worked for Volvo Car Corporation for long time as software engineer and software architect before taking up an academic position with Malmo University, Sweden. Ulrik has chosen to speak about a very important and interesting topic as there is not much commonly known about what role and responsibilities an architect can have in a software development team. I was delighted to hear Paul Clements on a similar topic when he gave a keynote at the Turkish Software Architecture Conference in November 2010. In order to give a sneak preview of his upcoming talk, Ulrik has shared the slides from a lecture he gave on the same topic during this summer. I am really looking forward to listening to him talking about this important topic as I’m sure he is going to draw a lot of experiences and observations from his own role and responsibilities as software architecture at Volvo Car Corporation for many years. The lecture is open to everyone who may be interested in this topic.
